1-Hour Job Hazard Analysis – Special Elective
Description:
The 1-Hour Job Hazard Analysis course is a focused training program designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to identify, assess, and control workplace hazards through the process of job hazard analysis (JHA). This course aims to increase awareness about the importance of proactive hazard identification and equip participants with practical techniques to mitigate risks and promote a safe work environment.
During the course, participants will learn about the concept and purpose of job hazard analysis, which involves breaking down tasks into individual steps and identifying potential hazards associated with each step. They will gain knowledge of different hazard assessment methods and the importance of involving workers in the analysis process.
The training will cover topics such as recognizing common workplace hazards, conducting risk assessments, and developing effective control measures. Participants will also learn how to prioritize hazards, implement appropriate risk controls, and communicate hazard information to coworkers.
Through instructional presentations, interactive discussions, and practical exercises, participants will develop the skills to analyze job tasks, identify hazards, and determine effective control measures. The course will emphasize the importance of ongoing hazard identification and continuous improvement to maintain a safe work environment.

Requirements
- Local Law 196 of 2017 requires certain workers and supervisors to receive safety training at construction sites that are required to designate a Construction Superintendent, Site Safety Coordinator or Site Safety Manager.
Target audiences
- Required curriculum for any Worker or Supervisor employed in NYC within the Five Boroughs on projects requiring a Construction Super, Site Safety Manager, Site Safety Coordinator, Concrete Safety Manager, or Competent Person.
