Description
The 1-Hour Excavations course is a focused training program designed to provide participants with an understanding of the potential hazards and safety protocols associated with excavation work. This course aims to increase awareness about the risks involved in excavation projects and equip participants with the knowledge and skills to work safely in and around excavation sites.

- Planning and Preparation: Importance of planning, inspection, and preparation before starting excavation work.
- Excavation Hazards: Understanding hazards such as cave-ins, hazardous atmospheres, and contact with underground utilities.
- Soil Classification: Identifying different soil types and their implications for excavation safety.
- Protective Systems: Use of trenching, shoring, and other systems to ensure safety.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Importance of PPE for excavation projects.
- Roles and Responsibilities: Understanding the roles of the competent person, equipment operators, and other key personnel.

Requirements
- Local Law 196 of 2017 requires certain workers and supervisors to receive safety training at construction sites that are required to designate a Construction Superintendent, Site Safety Coordinator or Site Safety Manager.
Target audiences
- Required curriculum for any Worker or Supervisor employed in NYC within the Five Boroughs on projects requiring a Construction Super, Site Safety Manager, Site Safety Coordinator, Concrete Safety Manager, or Competent Person.
