Description:
The 1-Hour Excavations course is a focused training program designed to provide participants with an understanding of the potential hazards and safety protocols associated with excavation work. This course aims to increase awareness about the risks involved in excavation projects and equip participants with the knowledge and skills to work safely in and around excavation sites.
During the course, participants will learn about the importance of proper planning, inspection, and preparation before commencing excavation work. They will gain knowledge of the different types of excavation hazards, including cave-ins, hazardous atmospheres, and contact with underground utilities.
The training will cover topics such as soil classification, protective systems, personal protective equipment (PPE), and safe work practices specific to excavation projects. Participants will also learn about the roles and responsibilities of key personnel involved in excavation operations, such as the competent person and the equipment operator.
Through instructional presentations, interactive discussions, and real-world case studies, participants will develop a better understanding of excavation safety principles and learn practical strategies to mitigate the risks associated with excavation work. The course will emphasize the importance of proper trenching and shoring techniques, hazard identification, and effective communication on excavation sites.

Requirements
- Local Law 196 of 2017 requires certain workers and supervisors to receive safety training at construction sites that are required to designate a Construction Superintendent, Site Safety Coordinator or Site Safety Manager.
Target audiences
- Required curriculum for any Worker or Supervisor employed in NYC within the Five Boroughs on projects requiring a Construction Super, Site Safety Manager, Site Safety Coordinator, Concrete Safety Manager, or Competent Person.
